Visit Out in Africa Plains year-round! Explore seasonal weather, temperatures, rainfall, and migration patterns.

June – September in the Serengeti
June – September

Peak dry season with dramatic Mara River crossings & prime big cat viewing.

June marks the transition from the quieter months into the Serengeti’s peak season. From July through September, much of the migration activity concentrates in the northern Serengeti, where wildebeest herds undertake the dramatic Mara River crossings. Meanwhile, the Central Serengeti remains exceptional for resident wildlife viewing throughout the dry season. As vegetation thins and animals gather around permanent water sources, sightings become more frequent and rewarding. Located in the heart of this wildlife-rich area, Out in Africa Serengeti Camp offers prime access to year-round game viewing, particularly its strong populations of big cats including lions, leopards, and cheetahs. The dry months provide excellent visibility, fewer scattered water sources, and consistently outstanding safari experiences right in the Central Serengeti.
